If you don't have time to delve into the detailsHow supplementing with grass-fed colostrum can improve your healthHere is a brief overview of the benefits:

  • Immune system support. Active compounds in bovine colostrum, including lactoferrin and immunoglobulins, have been shown to help reduce inflammation and promote immune system health.
  • gut repair. The various growth factors in colostrum can help stimulate the regeneration and proliferation of cells in the lining of the gut (epithelium). The latter is vital to prevent toxins and undigested nutrients from entering the bloodstream, where they will be attacked by immune system cells (causing inflammation).
  • anti aging. The insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in bovine colostrum stimulates DNA and RNA repair and growth, making it a powerful tool in the body's antiaging arsenal.

Kolostro LD from Sovereign Laboratories

professionals

  • Better absorption and bioavailability.
  • Tested for effectiveness by third parties.
  • No GMOs.
  • Made from grazing cows.
  • Responsible source.

Disadvantages

  • Contains traces of lactose.
  • It has been stripped of the natural lipids (fat) found in colostrum.

Sovereign Laboratories' product is unique in that it offers what is known as liposomal delivery, a processing method that encapsulates colostrum in a fatty shell to prevent it from being destroyed by the harsh, acidic environment in the stomach.

Additionally, Colostrum-LD is made from colostrum from dairy cows raised on pasture in the United States that have not been treated with synthetic growth hormone (rBST) or antibiotics (unless medically required).

To preserve the delicate nutrients in this so-called "first milk", the colostrum used in this nutritional supplement is quickly pasteurized and dried over low heat.

The combination of these properties distinguishes Colostrum-LD from most other colostrum powder products on the market.

Components

We use this colostrum supplement to treat gastrointestinal problems and allergies in our children and pets. (4)

Colostrum-LD contains only two ingredients, including pasteurized bovine colostrum and sunflower lecithin. The latter is used to make the shell that protects nutrients - including themProline-rich polypeptides (PRPs)and growth factors – due to strong stomach acid.

Implementation

For a quality colostrum supplement to be effective, it must contain adequate amounts of certain micronutrients, including immunoglobulin G (IgG).

Sovereign Laboratories manufactures Colostrum-LD in FDA, GMP and USDA accredited facilities that ensure each serving contains at least 25% IgG, 1.5% lactoferrin, 1.5% growth factors and between 3.5% and 5% Contains colostrum peptides (PRPs).

One way Sovereign Laboratories ensures this high potency is by collecting colostrum from lactating cows within the first 24 hours after calving (but only after the calf's colostrum requirements are fully met).

Products containing collected colostrumafterAs a result, the 24-hour window contains significantly less of these essential nutrientsthe natural transition from colostrum to transition milk and regular milk– a process that takes about five days.

bioavailability

We use this colostrum supplement to treat gastrointestinal problems and allergies in our children and pets. (5)

One of the biggest problems with colostrum supplements (and many other supplements) is that the bioactive compounds enter the bloodstream through the gastrointestinal tract.

This is because the acidic environment of the stomach destroys many of its bioactive ingredients.

Sovereign Laboratories solved this problem by coating powdered colostrum in fat. The company calls this proprietary process liposomal delivery ("lipo" means fat).

While liposomal delivery does not guarantee 100 percent bioavailability of the encapsulated drug or dietary supplement, seems to be improving significantly.

At this point, you may be wondering how unprotected calves absorb important nutrients from fresh colostrum. Of course, nature designed (fresh) colostrum so that calves can fully absorb all the nutrients they need. Potential problems with the bioavailability and natural absorbability of colostrum only arise when people step in and try to turn colostrum into a shelf-stable powder.

Also, it is important to note that cows' stomachs are not as acidic as human stomachs. In fact, the entire gastrointestinal system of ruminants works completely differently from that of humans. This is one of the reasonsWhy humans thrive on an animal-based diet versus a plant-based diet.

Therefore, I see the advantages of liposomal delivery technology in the lack of processing technology (eg freeze-drying) that denatures the colostrum to a lesser extent.

possible side effects

We use this colostrum supplement to treat gastrointestinal problems and allergies in our children and pets. (6)

Any drug or supplement can cause unwanted side effects, and cow's colostrum contains residual amounts of milk sugar (lactose). Many adults are sensitive or cannot tolerate anything.

Sovereign Laboratories has added lactase to some (but not all) of their formulas, an enzyme that helps the body break down lactose, greatly reducing the risk of gastrointestinal upset (even if you're lactose intolerant).

fun factNote: Milk labeled as lactose-free in the supermarket is not really lactose-free. The label simply means that the manufacturer has added lactase to help break down the sugars in the milk.

The other issue that Sovereign Laboratories claims you may experience after starting to supplement with bovine colostrum is a mild cleansing effect, bloating or flatulence — similar to what you may experience when adding probiotics to your lifestyle.

When I first started supplementing with Colostrum-LD, I did not follow the recommended dosing protocol, which was to slowly increase the dose over the first few days.

Instead, I took the full amount (2 tablespoons) from the first day and only felt slight bloating that went away after two or three days. The truth is, I'm not even sure if this gas was caused by the colostrum or by something I ate.

Preis

Colostrum-LD comes in bags ranging from 6 ounces to 32 ounces and costs between $39.95 and $179.95 per bag.

While the 32-ounce package looks expensive, it packs 182 servings, resulting in a tasty price tag of less than $1 per serving. If you choose a 30 or 60 day subscription, you will get a 20% discount.

In addition to the different sizes, you can also choose between "regular" and vanilla flavor. I tried the latter for the first time and it had just a hint of vanilla - not overwhelming by any means. Even if you're not a fan of vanilla (I'm not), the flavor won't disappoint.

We usually keep the unflavored version (which tastes like powdered milk) at home because we can easily mix it into our kids' food (or our dog's food) without changing the taste.

How we use Colostrum-LD

We use this colostrum supplement to treat gastrointestinal problems and allergies in our children and pets. (7)

In the cramped household, we strategically supplement with Colostrum-LD if necessary.

For example, when we discovered that our son Lucas (who was born prematurely) suffered from food intolerances (leading to gastrointestinal problems), we gave him two teaspoons of bovine colostrum daily and also removed the offending foods.

The protein in some foods can negatively affect gut permeability, leading to leaky gut and an overactive immune response that can lead to inflammation, allergies and other problems. The nutrients found in colostrum can help heal a leaky gut (as I explain in more detail inthis article).

This allowed the irritated gut lining to heal faster while also improving immune function (which is directly related to digestive health).

In addition, we also gave Colostrum-LD to our German Shepherd when he was showing signs of an overactive immune system, leading to frequent fungal and skin infections (probably caused by allergens in the environment or the food he was eating). As with Lucas, we started a weaning process by offering him colostrum to boost immune health.

I also take Colostrum-LD semi-regularly as a supplement to help my body repair damaged DNA and its natural anti-aging agents. I am 40 years old at the time of writing and frequently subject my body to high levels of stress caused by my job, vigorous exercise and other lifestyle factors. For me, colostrum supplementation is a great way to support my regular wellness and health care routine.

Colostrum-LD: The Best Colostrum Supplement?

The best and most effective way to supplement bovine colostrum is to drink it fresh. But unless you have a lot of calving cows or know someone who does, this is very difficult to achieve.

Using quality powdered supplements, such as those made by Sovereign Laboratories, is a good alternative to fresh colostrum, especially if you have a compromised immune system or suffer from gastrointestinal issues.

Of course, correcting serious immune or gastrointestinal problems involves more than using a nutritional supplement.

I do a lot of different things to make sure my immune system is working perfectly, among other thingsa healthy diet without plant toxins and processed carbohydratesdo regular sports, protect my sleep,I deal with my anxietyand the use of certain nutritional supplements, includingfreeze-dried beef liverand bovine colostrum.

So it's hard to say which part of my healthy lifestyle does the most to boost my immune system.

It also means I'm not sure what supplements I'm usingNOthey make a significant difference.

As for bovine colostrum, I strongly believe it has great potential and is worth looking into - especially if you're still on your way there.a healthier lifestyle.

Personally, I continue to consume colostrum during cold and flu season to further reduce the risk of infection (especially after intense CrossFit workouts).
